The North Bohemian Museum was built between 1897 and 1898. So far, the building did not undergo any significant adaptation; therefore its architecture was preserved. However, that is why today the museum struggles with the building functions, especially with maintaining stable climatic conditions of the exhibition spaces as well as repositories. Also it is confronting the insufficiency of visitor’s spaces.

In this project, we try to find a way to endow the intangible light with specific shapes.

In the process of daylight reaching space, outdoor environment is a source of light, building skin is light traps and architectural space is a container to capture light. To be specific, in this project, the glassbox on the ground is the receiver of the local sunlight and the underground space is the container of light which in a shape that exactly fit to the sunlight illumination range.
